Week 1-- Two Cultures
As a student who majors in Applied Mathematics, this is the first time I take a class which belongs to the North campus. My pre-major and major requisites actually inhibits me from the whole different cultures. As C.P. snow divided the rich and the poor into two groups, science and arts live in two completely distinct universe. The common boundary of them is where the singularity emerges from. Furthermore, the separation of arts and science build my respect and curiosity towards those people who major in humanities which stand on the opposite of my major. For example, one of my roommates majors in Linguistics. Although we share one bedroom, we still live in two worlds at UCLA. The commonly used app for her is Word, but, for me, is Xcode. Moreover, the arts are not just a part of school curriculum as insignificant areas of study but are a vital part of education (Importance of Arts in the Education"). My Homework for CS...
